Information on the Brownsburg Warning Sirens.
The Brownsburg Fire Dept. is in charge of our sirens. Most of the sirens are Federal Signal
2001s.
There are 14 tornado sirens located in the Brownsburg fire terriotory. The sirens
are tested every Friday at 11:00am, for 30 seconds.
Sirens will be activated for:
-When a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is issued when a Tornado Watch is already in
effect, the sirens will sound for one minute with a steady tone.
-When a Tornado Warning is issued, the sirens will sound with the wavering tone
for about 5 minutes.
The sirens are an
outdoor
warning system. If you hear the sirens activated, go inside and tune to a radio
or TV station. You should also have a NOAA Weather Radio availble.
Please DO NOT
call 911 if your hear the sirens.
